When there are cloudy weather conditions or twilight there will be less problems seeing the laser dot for measuring.  If there is a lot of sun you will hardly be able to see the laser for measuring.

I recommend for the distances up to 50 feet the use of the laser glasses by which the red dot will be better visible.

The best solution for outdoor measuring  is to use the Leica Disto E7500, E7500i D810 and the S910 with integrated digital pointfinder and 4x magnification. This will make it much easier to measure up to 500 feet.  With the Leica Disto E7500, E7500i D810 and the S910 you do not need to see the laser dot, but the cross hairs in the point finder allows you to see where you are targeting. Believe me, the digital point finder is the way to go when you need to measure outdoors.
